Every year at Christmas time for the last 20 years my family and I head to the beautiful Colorado mountains to get a Christmas tree. This year was exceptionally warm, so I enjoyed frolicking around and grabbing a few extra souvenirs. I found some pretty bark, some rocks and I collected a bunch of [amazon_textlink asin=’B00ZPI0NGS’ text=’smooth straight sticks’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’617a58dc-edde-11e7-a10a-f9cb87523915′]. When I got my treasures home, I grabbed my [amazon_textlink asin=’B00954JN9Q’ text=’Santa Snow’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’857af5af-edde-11e7-b6f6-1109aa47d36f’] and got to work, creating an awesome winter birch branch planter that will go great in an entryway during this Christmas and winter season!

How to make a winter birch branch planter:
To start out my project, I wanted to make my plain sticks look more wintery. I first sprayed them with[amazon_textlink asin=’B00954JN9Q’ text=’ Santa Snow’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’49d22c2d-eddf-11e7-9391-c7ed87680229′] to give them a white fuzzy texture. Next, I added some [amazon_textlink asin=’B005574IIS’ text=’silver glitter blast’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’53887102-eddf-11e7-bbc5-cf30fad25bf8′]. This gave it a sparkly streaky look.
Next, I placed the [amazon_textlink asin=’B001FD5EZW’ text=’flower foam’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’5cfb4416-eddf-11e7-86ec-c1b902562b7b’] in the bottom of the pots. I pushed the three [amazon_textlink asin=’B00ZPI0NGS’ text=’sticks’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’711263da-eddf-11e7-b94c-bd6a14e68f1e’] into the flower foam. Once I had the sticks where I wanted them, I added the [amazon_textlink asin=’B006CN7XR2′ text=’berry floral’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’83285dce-eddf-11e7-9347-23c96eabc567′] to the mix so everything was in a pleasant arrangement.
Upon looking at everything, I decided that a little more snow couldn’t hurt, so I painted on some glitter [amazon_link asins=’B000XZVW8G’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’99bcda13-eddf-11e7-a708-6521beefb9c6′]Snow-tex with a paintbrush. This gave it the exact snowy look I was hoping for!
To hold everything in place, I filled the pots with a little newspaper. (If yours is going to be outdoors unprotected, I would maybe go with something a little more waterproof.)
I then completed the look by adding [amazon_textlink asin=’B075F2WQ42′ text=’pinecones’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’a63cecf7-eddf-11e7-a7bb-f1ad69c5fb4e’] to the top, covering up the paper. You could also some [amazon_textlink asin=’B01COK5IFA’ text=’fairy lights’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’bathtubringsa-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’721c2122-ede1-11e7-a754-331df426d35a’] for some extra sparkle at night!
Here is the finished arrangement:
