I love Valentine’s Day. Since becoming a mom, I finally have an excuse to cut out little paper hearts for everyone in the family! I also love the fun school parties! I remember always having a hard time decorating my Valentine’s Day box when I was smaller. If you are like me, here is a post showing you just how easy it can be!
Decorating a Valentine’s Day box for school is a fun way to have a little craft time with your little one, while creating something memorable. Here is a simple Valentines Day box homemade that can be done in an afternoon together with your child. What I like about this is that it is super easy to accomplish, even for the small ones. (So no frustration required.)
What you will need to make your Valentine’s Day Box:
A small box (Kleenex box sized)
Card-stock as long as the longest side of your box )or wrapping paper if your box is too large)
Stickers and decorations (your imagination is there limit)
Optional: a Cricut machine to cut out child’s name with sparkly vinyl Here are some more fun Cricut Ideas
Here is how to make your own Homemade Valentine’s day box:
First measure out all of the sides of the box you are planning on covering. For each side, use your measurements to trace out each side on a piece of card-stock. Add a tab on the sides of the card-stock where it will be folded into the box. (My tabs were just over a half of an inch)
Repeat for all of the sides.
Once you have them all traced out, cut them out and glue them on to the outside of the box, folding the flaps Inside the box. Be sure to cut an opening slit for people to place cards into the box.
Alternatively, if you have a large box or would like to use a patterned paper, you could wrap the entire box in wrapping paper and cut a hole on the top.
Decorate your Valentine’s Day box for School:
Now comes the fun part. Craft stores have stickers, doilies, ribbon and all kinds of things you could use to decorate your box with.
For adding your child’s name, you could use stick-on foam letters, or a Cricut machine to type out the name and place it on the box.
My son only wanted hearts on his box, instead of a theme (like the trendy and awesome unicorn valentines day box), so we printed out some heart stickers on vinyl and I let him place them on the box where ever he wanted. I also added a stripe of hearts to the edges of the box to cover up a bit of cardboard that was still showing.
Here is how it turned out:
Super simple and really easy! But tons of fun!
