Have a blank wall or blank space that’s itching for some attention? Spice up the room with some new trendy art! Don’t just go out and buy some random piece of square shabby chic art work, though. Create something new, unique and trendy by taking old pieces of trendy wall art or box sayings and turn them into a unique and eclectic piece everyone will talk about it.
My inspiration
The last time I was at the thrift store, I saw so many pieces of of art just jumbled up together in bins that I couldn’t tell if it was decor or kindling. I thought to myself there has got to be something I could do with all these pieces to make them new and trendy again! So I picked up at bunch at $1.00 a pice and decided to blend them together into one big piece of work.
What you will need!
Luckily this is a super easy and cheap project to diy! The items you will need are:
-A power drill/screwdriver
-Some screws of various length
-And some paintings, wall decor, or blocks
That’s literally all you’ll need. Easy huh!
Next: Position pieces to make one larger piece!
The next step is easy. Use your creative imagining to put the pieces together like a puzzle. Be eclectic, be fun, be imaginative! It doesn’t have to match and sometimes some items can be reflections of others. Just think outside the box and put them together in a way that you think flows but makes you think!
Depth is very important here. Make sure you also keep depth in mind as some pieces are thicker than other. You can use this to bring the project out more and make it POP!
*keep in mind* Having said that you still need to make sure you spot or portion in the back you can hang from or attach framing hangers too.
Flip it!
Once you have it the way you like, flip the project over from one side to the other!
Time to screw them together!
Take two pieces at a time and screw them together through the framing. I used duct tape to held them together so I could get a clean screw through. Clamps would also work well.
*keep in mind how much depth you want on each piece and make sure the backing is flush*
Almost there now!
Finish up pieces all the parts together and get ready to display your beautiful new piece of wall art! If need to add some wall hangers on the back you can do that at this time, as well.
Show it off!
